januik winery wedding

I’m so excited today to get back on track and start the long road to many more upcoming posts of some of last year’s most awesome weddings.  However, to be certain that I don’t get too behind, today I’ll be sharing instead my first wedding of 2015!  May I introduce to you, Michelle and Will, who were married just this past Saturday.

I knew immediately that I loved these two from the very first email I got from Michelle inquiring if I was available for their date.  Those who know me know that a personal connection with my clients is a big, big deal to me and it’s extremely rare that I book a wedding without first meeting the couple in person.  However, when the initial email starts off “I feel like you’re our friendtographer already” and includes references to their love of the Seahawks and LOLing at my website, well, let’s just say that they had me at “We have a Frenchie named Louis”.   What sealed my love affair with these two was opening their mailed contract to find that they’d changed their original wedding venue from the depths of Mukilteo to my home away from home… no, not Redhook Brewery (although that’s where they had their rehearsal dinner) but my other favorite venue, Januik Winery.

After a morning of hair and make up with her girls at the always lovely Willows Lodge, Michelle enjoyed a chilly first look with Will outside of the winery. Michelle worked so hard to create and organize so many great little details, from the crazy-gorgeous escort cards she wrote out herself and the elegant cake created by her friend Annika to the stunning floral arrangements she had created by Lana with Seattle Floral Design. I especially loved all of the succulents included in the bouquets and centerpieces! Their friend, Josh, was their officiant and the entire ceremony went off without a hitch.  Sweet and simple with a wonderfully heartfelt and funny custom reading by Michelle’s best friend from high school, Kristin.

The celebration continued into the evening with an amazing dinner catered by the fabulous chefs at the winery (seriously, they consistently have THE best wedding fare) and great toasts by their Matron of Honor and Best Man, Ellen and John.  I think my favorite part of their reception (aside from the food, of course) was the reaction from Will when they cut into their wedding cake and he saw that Michelle had surprised him with Seahawks colored frosting inside. Priceless!   Brides, take note, that is how you do it. From there they went on to dance their first dance as husband and wife,  enjoyed a couple of sweet dances with mom and dad, and partook in an anniversary dance that went on for two entire songs (everyone there had been married forever)!  As we said our good byes, everyone was on the dance floor having a fantastic time and went on to enjoy the celebration of these two amazing families deep into the night.

So much love goes out to these two awesome people!  Will and Michelle, I think I adored you from your very first email and now I am certain of it. I can’t wait to hang out again soon, I just know that we have many more tater tot breakfasts and Seahawk wins in our future.   xo, Amy
