Destination weddings are always fun, especially when I get to take a ferry to get there rather than standing in an airport security line. Ruth and Byron were married at Friday Harbor House in the San Juan Islands and I can’t imagine them having a more lovely day; the weather was beautiful, the view amazing, and the people all so incredibly lovely. I especially loved how laid back and stress-free the day was. Byron and Ruth (and of course their pup, Norman) got ready together (which is always so sweet) and took their time enjoying the walk through town while we casually shot their portraits. The ceremony was short and sweet and dinner was amazing. Note: If you ever find yourself at Friday Harbor House, do yourself a favor and order the brussel sprouts. They are MAGICAL. I don’t even like brussel sprouts and this dish made me a convert- I learned the trick: Bacon jam. A hysterical slideshow hosted by Ruth’s parents concluded the formal reception. From there, the rest of the wedding evening was spent in town drinking and dancing the night away with all their friends and family at the local bar. Thank you so much to Ruth and Byron and their wonderful families for creating such a beautiful celebration for everyone to enjoy. xx, Amy
