Happy Maternity Monday!
OK, so “Maternity Monday” isn’t really a thing, nor will it likely ever be on this blog, I was just trying to make it fancy. 🙂 In truth, those who know me know that Maternity sessions aren’t really my thing. At all. Maybe it’s because I’ve never really been the motherly sort or maybe it’s that most sessions I see on Pinterest lead me to believe that pregnancy sessions are all about ridiculously obscure props and looking perfectly dewy at sunset while being 8 months pregnant and rocking a half-shirt; I really have no idea. The fact is that because of this, and because it seems I really need the perfect circumstances under which to photograph them*, I limit my maternity sessions to only a very select number of clients a year. Today’s session, from the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is one of those rare shoots. I photographed Julie and Shawn’s amazing Seattle-themed wedding last Summer and was super excited when Julie got in touch to say they were expecting and were interested in a maternity session, but not one that looked like a maternity session. This sounded right up my alley and we soon found ourselves on a blustery Sunday morning enjoying a bit of mud and a whole lot of pretty flowers. Thanks to these two lovely people for a super fun Sunday and especially to Shawn for being such a trooper while wearing non-mud-approved footwear. I can’t wait to meet your little one when she arrives!!!
xo, amy
*perfect maternity session circumstances apparently includes super-awesome friendtography clients who also spring for post-shoot brunch and mimosas (thanks you guys!!).
