A little less than a year ago Whitney, Zach and I traveled up to Snoqualmie for silly snowball fight and some beers at Salish Lodge. After that engagement session I knew that I was going to love photographing their wedding. Zach broke through his tibia and fibula bones in his lower leg less than 24 hours after they got engaged, so they ended up having a longer engagement, which Whitney says made planning and saving less stressful. I think Zach still had his pins in during their engagement session!
These two flew all to way to beautiful Poulsbo from their home in Denver for their stunning Kiana Lodge wedding and I am so happy they brought their pup Bailey with them! Nothing better than a happy pup on wedding day! Even though you never know about the weather on the Washington coast (even in August!) their wedding day was absolutely perfect. You know, like Goldilocks- not too hot, not too cloudy, just right. Not only was the weather beautiful, but the food included the best salmon I had all year- and that is saying a lot! To. Die. For.
Since this is generally the time of year many couples get engaged, I asked Whitney what advice she had for couples just starting to plan:
“Take your time, lock your venue and major vendors in early. We tried to save money in a lot of areas, we did our own save-the-dates, formal invitations, escort cards and the rest of the printing ourselves which turned out to be pretty fun (we watched two full seasons of The Killing in our basement cranking out crafts!). We did not have a wedding planner so the planning and details got pretty intense in the last month – especially planning from a different state – just try to remain calm!”
These two and their friends and family were all so sweet and silly and fun, it was hard to pull away at the end of their wedding evening! Unfortunately we did have a ferry to catch. 🙁 Whit and Zach, I really wish you didn’t live so far away and I hope we get the chance to catch up next time you’re back in town! Best wishes for a fantastic future!!
xoxo, Amy
